I also loved Samantha's charachter and how she had come into her own as well. I've always loved the chemistry between Carrie and Big and found it just as exciting and complex in the movie version. As Joss said, this is an experiment he is trying in order to see if it's possible to make something with a low budget (but not low quality either) and still turn a profit.
